Among his many accomplishments, he has published Booker Prize winner The Famished Road, and Astonishing the Gods, which was selected as one of the BBC’s ‘100 novels that shaped our world.’ In 2018 he adapted Camus’ ‘The Outsider’ for The Coronet Theatre to much critical acclaim, which won The Offies Award for Best Theatre Production. His most recent works include the novel The Freedom Artist, a volume of short stories, Prayer for the Living, his latest book of poems, A Fire in My Head, his environmental fable for all ages, Every Leaf a Hallelujah, his novel The Last Gift of the Master Artists, and his collection of stories, essays and poems about climate change, Tiger Work. After publicly denouncing Russia’s invasion of Czechoslovakia, she was sentenced to 3 years of forced labor in an East Berlin factory before getting expelled to the West where she worked in music and theater with Robert Wilson, Pina Bausch, Nina Hagen and many others. She moved to New York in 1992 where she, as she puts it,

found her roots.

His expertise extends to interpreting in diverse cultural environments, including cinemas, concerts, theatres, and festivals, as well as in both national and international conferences. Beyond his interpreting work, Denis actively contributes to the advancement of the profession as a board member of the Romanian National Association of Sign Language Interpreters, where he plays a key role in shaping policies and initiatives for interpreting communities.

With critical and public success, Awa Ly has given around a hundred concerts internationally, from Parisian venues to the biggest events in the world, such as the most recent Mawazine 2024 festival. Her next album is set to be released in early 2025.

Monika Jiang

explores modern loneliness as a personal, collective, and political challenge. Through her initiative, Sharing our loneliness, she aims to raise awareness and cultivate third places for dialogue, connection, and community. With a background in media and communications, Monika has worked in corporate environments, agencies, and youth entrepreneurship programs. For five years, she led as Head of Curation and Community at the House of Beautiful Business, growing it into a global network of 50,000 members dedicated to a life-centered economy. As an independent consultant, Monika focuses on community-centered projects aimed at growth and engagement. Additionally, she is a teacher in training with Humanize, an evidence-based program focused on fostering emotional and social skills, and she practices these skills based on social neuroscientific research at the Max-Planck Institute in Berlin.

Shoko Nagai

Shoko Nagai

is a versatile musical artist who improvises and performs with world-renowned musicians on piano and accordion and composes original scores for films and live performances. As a teenager in her native Japan, Nagai was trained on Yamaha’s electronic organ, the “Electone” to perform popular music. Moving to the U.S., she studied classical and jazz music at Berklee. She adapted her mastery of the keyboard to piano, accordion, Moog synthesizer, and other instruments. Whether she is performing Klezmer, Balkan or experimental music, Nagai is a charismatic presence onstage, who hypnotizes audiences with her intense focus and virtuoso sound. Nagai is a fellow of 2023 New York Foundation Arts in Music/Sound, 2023 M3 (Mutual Mentorship for Musicians), and 2021 Chamber Music America, 2021 City Artist Corps, and 2022 International songwriting competition finalist.

is a Paris-based writer, journalist and critic, a contributing writer for The Atlantic, a regular contributor to The New York Review of Books and a former Rome Bureau Chief and European Culture correspondent for The New York Times. She is also Curator of Cultural Programs at The American Library in Paris, conceiving public events for the largest English-language lending library on the Continent. She regularly publishes textured profiles and features at the intersection of culture and politics, as well as literary criticism. She has reported from more than two dozen countries and interviewed heads of state as well as major cultural figures, including four Nobel Laureates in literature.

a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (London, UK), is an award-winning designer and artist with a diverse portfolio spanning product design, fashion, and art. He has designed collections for prestigious luxury brands such as Mugler and Vivienne Westwood. Over the years, Alexandru has also collaborated on various interdisciplinary projects with internationally acclaimed designers, further enriching his creative journey. Inspired by his two sons, he developed a series of creativity workshops to nurture their imaginations, which later evolved into ADAMO Atelier—a vibrant space where children can freely explore and cultivate their creative potential.

is a published author, singer and actress. At 20 years old, she was the youngest female travel writer to travel the world with a book deal in her back pocket. Her debut, Marie’s Trip (Maries Reise), a travel novel, became a national bestseller in Germany and is considered a travel literature classic. For her second travel novel, Ghost Trip (Geister Reise), she chased ghosts in Mexico, Ireland, West Africa and Indonesia. The book she is currently writing took her to Romania in search of her maternal roots. Marie’s three month long journey through Romania ended with a fishing trip in the Danube Delta with forty pilots.
