Due to a last-minute inconvenience, Peter Conrads will regretfully not being able to join us.
Peter Conrads is co-founder and managing director of SLOW; a Berlin-based laboratory for the creation of extraordinary places around the world with the aim to re-align the hospitality idea through sustainable, careful construction of a community, combined with classic, locally oriented gastronomy and highest design.
After graduating in economics and mathematics from Freiburg University and Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the late 1980’s, early nineties, Cologne-born Conrads began writing his dissertation about the „Price elasticity of demand for gasoline in Germany“. However, fate had other ideas and before he finished his paper, he was wooed away from McKinsey and moved to New York. One of his first projects was the reorganization of the United Nations.
In 1996, Conrads decided to return to Germany and founded his first consulting company, which he developed successfully over the years. The inquisitive mind, who has always been looking for new challenges, decided the to sell the company some ten years later and specialized in strategic consultancy in the public sector. In addition, Conrads put his efforts in the development of his own equity firm and started investing in products he had always felt strong about in the areas of fashion, sustainability, technology and furniture. And so the inevitable happened: he founded a new consulting company specialized in technology as well as a small strategic consultancy company. As of 2010, Conrads aspired for more and entered into the real estate business with the acquisition, development and sale of properties.
As Conrads had always been an ardent devotee of design and architecture, he decided to combine his expertise with his passion. In 2012, he partnered with Claus Sendlinger, founder of Design HotelsTM, whom he met privately a few years back when they bought into the same housing project – an old brewery in Berlin’s Prenzlauer Berg, which they restored lastingly winning prices for sustainability and design. Together, they have founded SLOW and various other companies for the creation of exceptional communal places and the development of forward-thinking hospitality concepts.
Not only professionally Conrads seeks the adventure. When he needs a hiatus from work, the Rhinelander gets out his Harley and Ducati ́s for a spin, packs his skiing gear for a trip to the Austrian mountains or simply puts on his sneakers for a smooth run along Spree-River.
