Alec Balasescu

Anthropologist, writer

Alec Balasescu is an anthropologist, writer, and occasional curator. He is the author of Paris Chic, Tehran Thrills. Aesthetic Bodies, Political Subjects, ZetaBooks, and numerous articles published in academic and non-academic journals. His collaborative film, Smells Like Paradise, made with Ovidiu Anton, was presented at the Vienna Biennial in 2015, where it won the contest Create Your Bucharest, and was subsequently bought for the permanent archive of the Wien Museum. Alec has taught in Paris, Irvine, Istanbul, Bucharest, and Vancouver where he currently lives.
