CEO and shareholder of eMAG, the Romanian online retailer. He is one of the most successful entrepreneurs, investors, and managers in Romania and is involved in several business ventures in the country and abroad, leading over 3,000 direct or indirect employees on the local market. Iulian Stanciu started selling games on recorded cassette tapes at age 12, launched his first formal business at 22 while still in university, and bought into eMAG in 2009 when it was nothing more than a small e-commerce company. Since then, Iulian Stanciu has led the company towards achieving ambitious goals obtaining an annual sales growth of 50% in a declining market and most notably through the repercussions of the 2008 crisis. In the long run, he redefined eMAG’s business strategy transforming it into a customer-centric company, focused on excellence at all levels, and is especially known for having instilled very progressive rules and templates in the company’s recruitment practices, management, and staff dynamics.
