Capucine Gros is a Switzerland-born artist who grew up in France and China. She moved to the United States in 2007 to attend the Savannah College of Art and Design where she received a BFA in Painting and New Media Art. She now lives and works in Harlem, New York. Capucine has completed projects breaching in and out of the art world, from screen-printing workshops in public schools in Savannah, GA, to year-long performances recording her interactions with others as well as life-long paintings or annual hand-made books. In 2011, she completed a residency at the Elizabeth Foundation for the Arts, NY and was most recently artist-in- residence at the Webb School of Knoxville, Knoxville, TN. She has participated in exhibitions around the world, including the Orange County Center for Contemporary Art, Santa Ana; BoxHeart Gallery, Pittsburgh; l’Espace Beaurepaire, Paris and Purple Roof Gallery, Shanghai. In addition to her own studio practice, Capucine also collaborates with other artists, notably Alfredo Jaar and Nene Humphrey.
